Carrot River Valley Sandy Ewen Pledge your vote

Healthcare worker and farmer Sandy Ewen will seek election as the New Democrat candidate in the Carrot River Valley constituency in the April 4 provincial election.

“What I'm hearing more and more in the Carrot River Valley constituency is that families in this area are tired of being taken for granted by the Sask. Party and they're concerned that the Sask. Party is no longer in touch with what really matters to people in this region,” said NDP Leader Cam Broten, who spoke at the nomination meeting. “That's why I'm so pleased that Sandy Ewen is running as the NDP candidate in the next election. Sandy is smart, kind, heavily involved in his community and he's determined to build a brighter future for the families of this region and our entire province. Sandy will be an incredible MLA.”

Ewen grew up on a family farm along the Barrier River in the Tisdale area.

He works as a recreation therapist with the Kelsey Trail Health Region. He and his family also have a beef cattle and honey bee operation. He previously worked as a diamond-mine driller, logger and youth worker.

“I'm proud to be on Cam Broten's team, because I appreciate his vision of a much better Saskatchewan for everyone,” said Ewen. “So many of the people I speak with in this constituency are increasingly concerned about the current government's wasteful spending and misplaced priorities. They want to see improvements to health care, seniors care and education. They want real investments in highways and infrastructure and they want a more diversified economy. I share those priorities and, if given the responsibility of serving as an MLA, I'll work hard to deliver for the families of this constituency.”

Ewen's extensive community involvement includes chairing the Tisdale Recreation and Parks Board, serving as a member of the Canadian Tire Jump Start Program, the Tisdale and Area Drug Awareness Committee and the Tri-Unity Challenge Family Fun Run in Arborfield, Zenon Park and Carrot River. He is a strong supporter of minor sports and has coached and managed soccer, baseball and hockey teams.

Ewen and his wife, Carmen McRae, live in Tisdale with their daughter and son.
