Rose grew up on a farm just outside Shell Lake and is a fourth generation resident of the community. Growing up she was an active participant with minor sports and 4-H. Upon graduating from the Shell Lake School she was awarded the Governor General of Canada’s Academic Medal.
After obtaining an Advanced Financial Services with Distinction diploma Rose worked in various areas with financial institutes for eight years in the Grande Prairie and Lloydminster areas. During this time, she was also a member of Toastmasters International and the Secretary-Treasurer Rotary International’s Rotaract division for young professionals. In the evenings Rose worked part-time at a community youth center.
In 2011 Rose returned to the Shell Lake area with her family. She obtained her Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker designation and currently owns and operates the local insurance agency. She is still heavily involved in her community. Rose is the President of the Shell Lake Chamber of Commerce and spearheads many of their community events including their community fair “Hey Days”. Rose also recently took the lead on lobbying for adequate access to financial services in six rural communities. In addition to this she is also the Secretary-Treasurer for the Shell Lake Curling Club and a league member. The local pre-school is another community organization she is passionate about and as such is a proud board member.
Saskatchewan’s rural communities are some of the provinces best, yet underutilized, assets. Rose is looking forward to working with the communities in the Rosthern-Shellbrook constituency to strengthen their roots and ensure their longevity.
