Michelle grew up in Turtleford. After high school, she went to University and received a Bachelor of Education degree in 1987. She began full-time teaching in southern Saskatchewan, and after meeting her husband she stayed in the southwest corner of the province.
Michelle and her husband ran a family farm for 10 years. When her children were born, she became a stay-at-home mom while substitute teaching in the local school divisions. When the family farm was sold, the family started a northbound trek. Michelle taught in Leader, Saskatchewan until 2003, then moved home to Lloydminster.
Today, Michelle is a full-time teacher at Lloydminster Comprehensive High School. Her husband works for Agland.
In each community she lives in, Michelle was active in local community groups and her church. She has served as the president for organizations like Lioness (local and district), recreation boards, skating and hockey clubs, and block parents. She also pitched in with 4-h judging, helped with parent groups, and organized both large and small community events.
Michelle and her husband of 24 years have three children, who are 22, 20 and 17.
