Dennel has been a continuing care aide in the Saskatoon Health Region for 16 years. She starting in long-term care and has worked in home care since 2002. Dennel takes great pride in building relationships with her clients and providing excellent care. She has been an active spokesperson for safe staffing levels in long-term care and home care and is a passionate advocate of keeping health care public.
Dennel has been married for 15 years and has 3 daughters in elementary school. As a mother, she in concerned with class sizes and cuts to educational assistants and support workers. She is working with other parents of the school to fundraise for a new playground.
Dennel is a proud SEIU-West member. As co-chair of the political action committee, vice-chair of Saskatoon Homecare, and an executive board member, she has gained valuable education related to the labour movement.
Dennel has been a volunteer for Saskatchewan Angel Dresses, a group of volunteers that sews outfits for babies that pass away so they have something for the grieving parents to dress their baby in. She is proud to have sewn over 200 outfits to date. She is also a volunteer for Twin-to-Twin Syndrome Support, a group of mothers that sends care packages to parents that have lost a child or children from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. As a baby-loss mother, Dennel understands the grief these parents face and wants to offer comfort.
