Linsey was raised on a family farm south of Dafoe. He attended school in Kandahar and Wynyard before attending the University of Saskatchewan where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management. Linsey returned to school, this time at the University of Regina, and obtained his Bachelor of Education in business and math.
Linsey and his wife Natasha, also a teacher, moved from Saskatoon to Melfort in 2005 to teach at the high school. Since then they have started a family that includes two daughters, Brynn and Afton, and a son, Niall.
In addition to teaching, Linsey has been heavily involved in the athletics program at the school as both a basketball coach and a football official. He has also helped to coach his daughters soccer team and recently started working as umpire for Minor Baseball in Melfort.
Linsey also serves the teachers of the North East as a member of the local teachers association executive. He has been an STF councilor for the the past six years.
