Twyla Harris Naciri is a Metis woman who was born and raised on a mixed cattle and grain farm in the community of Briarlea, Sask. Growing up, Twyla and her family owned and operated Headline Tarentaise purebred cattle. Twyla spent 13 years as a member of the Wild Rose 4-H Beef Club and 3 years as a leader. Twyla credits her years in 4-H for helping to develop her sense of community and leadership.
Twyla joined the Canadian Armed Forces as an officer with the Cadet Instructors Cadre in 2008 and holds the rank of Captain. She helped with the formation of an Army Cadet unit in inner city Saskatoon. She was the Commanding Officer of 328 Royal Canadian Army Cadets (Medical) from 2012-2015 where she was successful in rebuilding the unit.
The promotion of organ and tissue donation is a passion for Twyla as it has deeply affected her family. She is an active committee member of Shoot for the Vitals which works to increase awareness and provide financial support for those going through organ and tissue donation.
Twyla is a major supporter of women’s issues and bringing women’s voices into politics. As President of the Saskatchewan New Democrat Women, she has championed the 20 for 2020 campaign with the goal of electing a minimum of twenty women to the Legislature in 2020.
Twyla has a Youth Care Worker diploma from Sask Polytechnic. She is currently working towards her Professional Arts Degree in Human Services from Athabasca University and works as the Constituency Assistant for Saskatoon Fairview.She is an active and proud member of COPE Local 397. Twyla lives in Saskatoon with her husband Adam.
