Kyle Lichtenwald is a teacher, father, and lifelong learner who is deeply committed to Moose Jaw and has deep ties to Saskatchewan. Born and raised in Regina, Kyle moved to Moose Jaw in 2004 upon his graduation from the U of R Business Administration Program. Kyle operated a successful home office as he travelled the province as a sales associate who supplied uniform and fire-resistant work wear solutions for a wide range of Saskatchewan businesses.
Kyle continued with sales while completing his education degree from 2006 – 2008, and then began teaching in Moose Jaw schools. While completing his education degree Kyle was also employed as a research assistant at the U of R Centre for Teaching and Learning and assisted professors with several courses at both an undergraduate and graduate level.
Kyle was thrilled to pursue a Master’s Degree in Education Foundations in 2010. His graduate work focused on teaching for justice. This reinforced Kyle’s vision of putting people first.
For over a decade, Kyle has taught 100’s of Moose Jaw’s citizens. He understands their many varied stories and has witnessed first hand accounts of success and hardship.
Additionally, Kyle has been involved in a variety of community organizations. He has held numerous positions with Sask Outdoors and is a former President. Kyle has been on the executive of Nature Moose Jaw.
Kyle has served on the St. Joseph Parish Council since 2011 and has been involved with numerous international, national, and local projects with the St. Joseph Social Justice committee.
Kyle is actively involved in the Holy Trinity Teacher’s association where he has held numerous roles. Further, Kyle has completed the Holy Trinity School Division’s Leadership course and is respected by colleagues. Kyle also volunteers to review teaching resources for the Saskatchewan Teacher’s Association, and he provides educational experiences for teachers through the STF Professional Learning Community.
Kyle and his wife, Joleen, have 5 wonderful children; Carter, Beckett, Brielle, Calla, and Cohen. They are the light of his life. Together they enjoy play, exploration, reading, and camping.
Kyle has many hobbies including gardening, carpentry, fishing, disc golf, and hiking.
