Saskatoon - New Democrats gathered in a packed hall this evening and selected Ryan Meili to be their candidate in the upcoming by-election in Saskatoon Meewasin.
“Since the last election, the Sask Party has attacked the most vulnerable and cut funding and staff for our schools and our hospitals,” said Meili. “This by-election is an opportunity for the people of this riding to send a clear message that they can’t keep making Saskatchewan people pay the price for their mismanagement. I’m very excited to be a part of this important campaign.”
Meili lives in Saskatoon with his wife Mahli Brindamour, who practices as a pediatrician, and their son Abraham. He is a family doctor in inner-city Saskatoon, a teacher of medical students at the University of Saskatchewan, a long-time advocate for better public policy, and the founder and executive director of Upstream.
“Ryan will make an excellent addition to our team in the legislature,” said Leader Trent Wotherspoon. “The Sask Party hid the budget and lied about the mess they had created with the finances before the last election. Now the truth is coming out, and they are arrogantly trying to blame the people of Saskatchewan for their own billion-dollar deficits and growing debt. This by-election is a great chance to stand up for the people of Saskatchewan and send a clear message to the Sask. Party and strengthen our team."
