REGINA – The Saskatchewan New Democrats in the Regina Coronation Park constituency have chosen small business owner Noor Burki to be their candidate for the next provincial election. Burki defeated two challengers to win the nomination in Regina this evening.

“As a father, I am very concerned about the devastating effects of the Sask. Party cuts to our classrooms,” said Burki. “I worry about the impact on my kids and all future generations.”

Noor was born in Pakistan and immigrated to Canada in 2003. He has owned and operated the Wascana Driving School as a driving instructor for over ten years, providing services to many private and public clients. Burki is very active in the community, volunteering with several organizations including Spring Free from Racism, Saskatchewan Driver Education Association and the Regina Pakhtoon Community.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Noor to our 2020 team,” said NDP Leader Ryan Meili. “As a small business owner, Noor understands the importance of putting people first.”

Burki is the fourteenth candidate nominated for the Saskatchewan NDP for the 2020 provincial election. The next nomination meeting will take place on May 2, 2019, for Saskatoon University.
