New Poll Shows Saskatchewan Can’t Afford Four More Years of Moe’s Refusal To Help With The Cost-Of-Living Crisis

New data shows nearly two-thirds of Saskatchewan people say they’re finding it “difficult” or “very difficult” to buy food to feed their families. This comes as the Sask. Party continues to refuse to remove the PST they imposed on groceries.

As well, the poll, conducted by Angus Reid and released today, found the people of Saskatchewan report the highest levels of pessimism and lowest levels of satisfaction with their financial security anywhere in Canada. A shocking 84 per cent of Saskatchewan respondents indicated they were worse off or the same compared to a year ago and Saskatchewan had the lowest percentage of respondents in Canada — 19 per cent — who were believed they would be better off a year from now.

“Saskatchewan should be the most affordable place in Canada to live, work, do business and raise a family,” said Trent Wotherspoon, Saskatchewan NDP candidate for Regina Mount Royal. “Instead, Scott Moe and the Sask. Party have made things worse at a time when families can least afford it. They raised taxes 31 times and punished families buying groceries and clothing for children. It’s time for change.”

The poll also found over half of Saskatchewan people found it “tough” or “very difficult” to manage their mortgage or rent payments.

“We need action to make life more affordable on Day 1 — and that’s exactly what we’re going to provide by cutting the gas tax,” Wotherspoon. “Then, we’re going to take the PST off groceries, off children’s clothing and put limits on rent increases. We will make life more affordable. It’s time for change.”
