Rob Feist nominated in The Battlefords

Lawyer and former Armed Forces Captain Rob Feist was nominated Tuesday evening to be the NDP candidate for the Battlefords constituency in the upcoming provincial election.

“Rob has deep roots in this community, a devotion to its people, and an impressive record of service to our province and country, so I have no doubt that he'll be a great MLA for the Battlefords,” said NDP Leader Cam Broten, who attended Feist’s nomination. “Rob wants to build a strong and diverse economy that creates loads of good, mortgage-paying jobs for Saskatchewan people, ensures that our prosperity is sustainable, and delivers real benefits for everyday families – like shorter waits and better services in health care, and a great education for all kids in our province.”

New Democrats nominate Danica Lorer in Cut Knife-Turtleford

Writer, journalist and popular professional storyteller Danica Lorer was nominated Tuesday evening to be the New Democrat candidate for Cut Knife-Turtleford in the next provincial election. 

“I'm thrilled that Danica is our candidate for Cut Knife-Turtleford, because I know she shares the values and priorities of families in this constituency, and she'll always stand up for what matters most to them,” said NDP Leader Cam Broten, who attended the nomination meeting. “More and more, people in this region feel taken for granted by the Sask. Party. They contribute so much to our province's economy, but their priorities are being ignored by the government. This constituency needs an MLA that is focused on giving young people more opportunity, giving families more financial security each month, and delivering on the public services we should all be able to count on, like health care without long waits and a great education for our kids.”

Ashley Nemeth to run for NDP in Indian Head-Milestone

Ashley Nemeth – a mother of three, vision-loss advocate and author of popular blog Blind Moving On – was nominated Monday to be the New Democrat candidate in the constituency of Indian Head-Milestone.

“It’s an absolute joy to formally welcome Ashley to our team,” said NDP Leader Cam Broten, who attended Nemeth’s nomination Monday afternoon. “Ashley is inspiring in so many ways. She's compassionate, intelligent and tireless in her fight for fairness and she's determined to build a Saskatchewan in which everyone has both the opportunity and the supports they need to reach their full potential. She’s going to be an incredible MLA.

“People in this constituency are increasingly tired of being taken for granted by the Sask. Party. Dan Hiscock, school counsellor, to run for NDP in Kelvington-Wadena

Dan Hiscock, a school counsellor with the Horizon School Division, was nominated by New Democrats Thursday to run for the NDP in the next provincial election.

“Dan’s dedication to giving families and all young people the tools to succeed is a quality that’s going to make him an excellent MLA,” said NDP Leader Cam Broten. “I keep hearing that people in the region are tired of being taken for granted. They need an MLA that really listens, that shares their values, and that is focused on their priorities.

New ad says patients should be the priority – not consultants

A new commercial from the New Democrats takes aim at the Sask. Party's choice to spend big on consultants and top-heavy management in health care instead of making patients the priority. 

The commercial was released Wednesday on television and online.

“This ad cuts right to a reality that everyday Saskatchewan families are coping with,” said New Democrat campaign manager Frank Quennell. “The hours a parent waits in an ER with their little one, or the months we wait for a specialist appointment – those waits are painful and full of anxiety. That reality is especially frustrating because after a decade of resource wealth, it definitely doesn’t have to be this way.

New Democrats want to invest in Saskatchewan instead

In a new commercial, Saskatchewan's New Democrats are shining a light on the Sask. Party's practice of sending contracts, jobs and billions of dollars out of the province.

The ad, which launched on television and online Monday, argues that we should be investing in Saskatchewan people, local businesses and communities instead.

“We know Saskatchewan people and businesses can offer incredible value,” said the New Democrat's campaign manager Frank Quennell. “Our companies, province and people are renowned for high-quality work and a work ethic that's second to none, along with compassion and skill. Yet the Sask. Party record shows an astounding preference for sending contracts and jobs to other countries. That's reckless and undermines Saskatchewan's future.”

Rose Freeman will be the NDP candidate in Rosthern-Shellbrook

Insurance broker and Shell Lake Chamber of Commerce president Rose Freeman was selected to be the New Democrat candidate for the Rosthern-Shellbrook constituency.

Freeman is a fourth-generation resident of the area, having grown up on a farm just outside of Shell Lake. She has a diploma in Advanced Financial Services and owns and operates Willow Insurance in Shell Lake.

"What I'm hearing more and more from families in this region is that they're growing tired of being taken for granted by the Sask. Party and, after a decade of resource boom, they're frustrated that this government has so little to show for it," said NDP Leader Cam Broten, who attended the nomination meeting. "That's why I'm so proud to have Rose Freeman as our candidate in this constituency.

Teacher Charles Jedlicka is the NDP’s candidate in Kindersley

Charles Jedlicka, a teacher, father of three young children and resident of Luseland, has been chosen to represent New Democrats in the next provincial election.

Jedlicka was nominated Thursday evening in Kindersley with NDP Leader Cam Broten in attendance.

“It was fantastic to see Charles nominated by his neighbours and community. Families in the Kindersley constituency are ready for an MLA who really puts their interests first, and who shares their family values and rural roots,” said Broten.

Sandy Ewen will be the New Democrat candidate in Carrot River Valley

Healthcare worker and farmer Sandy Ewen will seek election as the New Democrat candidate in the Carrot River Valley constituency in the April 4 provincial election.

Ewen was selected at a nomination meeting Saturday afternoon in Tisdale.
