SCOTT MOE NEEDS TO ANSWER WHY HE AND HIS HEALTH MINISTER STOOD UP SASKATCHEWAN NURSES DURING HEALTHCARE CRISIS
Sask. Party then lied to the public and media after accepting the invite last Friday

REGINA – While Saskatchewan hospitals run out of oxygen and hospital beds and emergency rooms are overrun at 350 per cent capacity, Scott Moe and his Health Minister snubbed hundreds of frontline nurses when they stood up Saskatchewan Union of Nurses, yesterday. The Sask. Party then proceeded to lie to the public about when they received the invitation from Saskatchewan nurses.

Yesterday, the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses held their annual convention in Regina. Nurses are feeling burnt out and undervalued, worried about the quality of care and safety they can provide to patients with the current state of the healthcare system under Scott Moe and the Sask. Party. Nurses stated that if there had been a mass-casualty event, they wouldn’t have the capacity to respond.

Scott Moe’s Health Minister Everett Hindley was scheduled to address nurses for 10 minutes, having confirmed with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses last Friday, but when it came to following through, the Sask. Party skipped out on accountability and stood up the nurses with no notice – despite being in the itinerary. To throw salt on the wound, the Sask. Party then tried to throw the nurses under the bus, claiming that they had only received the invite an hour before the event. This lie was quickly debunked, as reported by CTV Regina, as the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses released correspondence showing the Saskatchewan Party had agreed to address nurses the week prior.

“This just shows how little Scott Moe cares about Saskatchewan patients and healthcare workers,” said Meara Conway, Saskatchewan NDP candidate for Regina Elphinstone Centre. “Not only can they not even bother to show up, they tried to throw nurses under the bus and lied about accepting the invitation. You just can’t trust a leader and a party willing to lie so openly.

“Saskatchewan healthcare is in crisis and it’s Scott Moe and the Sask. Party that put us here. It’s time for change.”
