Why did my generic medication triple in price from December to January?

Why did my generic medication I require every month go up in price from $525 a month in December to $1475 a month in January?!?! I was told it was because they switched suppliers. This medication has been out for a very long time and is produced by several different drug companies. So why am I being told to pay what it would cost for a brand name drug when it is a common generic drug?!?! This is more than I receive in a month ftom DCPP!!! I can’t afford this now but without it, I will get severely ill and eventually die! I also have 8 other medications and 5 supplements that I need every month as well. Even with the Special Support Program, which is requiring me to still pay 11% of medications of the Sask Formulary despite my whopping $11,750 yearly income! I will be required to spend approximately $600 a month now! I can’t do it! I’m at my wits end, paying a fortune for medications needed to live and going to huge debt that I will never be able to get out of! What am I supposed to do? I’m in tears every day because of this and the stress is just making me even more ill! Why are prescription costs going up after we were promised they were supposed to be lowered!!!
