Nathaniel Teed was elected as the MLA for Saskatoon Meewasin in a 2022 by-election and re-elected in the 2024 provincial election. He currently serves as the Shadow Minister of Labour and 2SLGBTQ Affairs, as well as Deputy Whip of the Official Opposition. Previously, he served as the Official Opposition Critic for Parks, Culture and Sport, Tourism, SLGA, SaskGaming, and SGI.
Nathaniel was born and raised in Saskatoon. He received a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan in 2018 and has worked as an arts and culture fundraiser—where he advocated for his CUPE 59 colleagues as a shop steward—an educational assistant, a teacher, and was a small business owner for 10 years. Nathaniel is the first openly gay MLA in Saskatchewan’s history, and has spent many hours volunteering with his community through OutSaskatoon.
Nathaniel has deep roots in the Saskatoon community and the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party. His grandparents, Genevieve (a social worker) and Loren Teed (an educator and artist), were actively involved in the formation of the Saskatchewan NDP and played key roles in the fight for Medicare. Genevieve was one of the founding members of the Saskatoon Community Clinic. Today, he carries forward their legacy.
