Roger Morgan is the New Democrat Candidate for Wood River.
Roger has been a teacher for 33 years based out of Val Marie, Kincaid, and the virtual classroom. He has also taught students from Coronach, Rockglen, Assiniboia, Mossbank, Glentworth, Mankota, Lafleche and Gravelbourg as well as extensively throughout the province. He was hired to develop the initial online resources for the province when the Sask Dept of Learning built their first virtual school.
He is a fervent supporter of sport and recreation in the province and spent nine years on the executive of the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association (SHSAA) including four years as President. He has continuously coached and officiated several sports over the past 35 years, including football, basketball, hockey, track & field, softball, baseball and volleyball.
Roger has been recognized for his contributions to sport and to the classroom both provincially and nationally, receiving the Merit Award from the SHSAA in 2016, the Provincial Service Award from the SHSAA in 2004 and the Prime Minister’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2001.
Roger has been an active volunteer and respected leader in the Kincaid area. He served as Mayor of the village for two terms and has long-served as treasurer on both the Kincaid Parks and Recreation committee as well as the Kincaid & District Rink Board.
Roger was raised in Shellbrook. His wife, Suzanne, grew up on a farm outside of Glentworth. They have made Kincaid their home for the past 30 years raising two grown children, Robyn and Brandon.
Roger has been a dedicated teacher and has seen firsthand the effects of the cuts to our children’s learning. He has lived his whole life in rural communities and would be a strong voice for rural Saskatchewan.
