CARLA BECK TELLS WHITE CITY PROVINCIAL COUNCIL PEOPLE HAVE A CHOICE, CHANGE IS COMING

Saskatchewan NDP Holds First Provincial Council Meeting In White City In Party’s History

WHITE CITY — Carla Beck told her team Saturday that she intends to win the battleground riding of White City-Qu'Appelle and will get to work on Day 1 delivering the change people in the region deserve.

“The people right here in White City and right across Saskatchewan have a choice,” Beck told people gathered at the Saskatchewan NDP’s Provincial Council meeting. “They don’t have to settle for a 20-year Sask. Party Government that is out of touch, out of ideas and focused only on propping up their friends and insiders while everyone else pays the price.

“I believe that not only is change possible in Saskatchewan, it’s on the way.”

Beck’s remarks to Council Saturday — the first Council held by the Saskatchewan NDP in White City — come on the eve of a provincial budget where Scott Moe has warned of a deficit. Moe has already doubled the provincial debt to $40 billion in his eight years as Premier.

“It’s everyday people that pay for the price for his failures,” Beck said. “He’s jacking up power rates, car insurance rates and downloading onto municipalities, which forces property taxes to rise.

“The price of food continues to skyrocket — and, still, Scott Moe taxes it. Rent has gone up for 43 months and, still, he sides with his corporate landlord buddies from Alberta and denies our attempts to bring in rent control.

“Scott Moe clearly doesn’t care about the people of Saskatchewan — it’s time for change.”

On Friday night, 20 Saskatchewan NDP MLAs and a dozen volunteers gathered petition signatures in support of building a desperately needed high school for White City and Emerald Park. Beck has promised to make the project a priority if elected in 2028.
