Carlton Classic Funspiel

We are excited to be hosting our first annual Carlton Classic Funspiel (CCF) on February 14th at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club. Come show your love for curling (and Prince Albert) on Valentine’s Day - sign up a team to play!

Registration

The entry fee is $200 for a team ($50 per player). You also have the option of registering for the buffet dinner and social for $30 per person. Register using this form by Wednesday, February 11th.

Format and Instructions

This is a fun spiel, so the focus is mostly on FUN! But winning is also fun, so you have a chance to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for prizes. First prize is worth $400! Each draw will have six ends, and you will have 1:30 of playtime. Teams will need to keep track of who wins each end - for every end you win, you get one (1) point. The winner of each game will earn an additional three (3) points and move on in their bracket. Please tally these points on the scoresheet provided at your sheet and return the filled sheet to the registration desk after the end of each game. The three teams with the most points after three games will be the prize winners. Do not despair if you lose! There is still a chance to win a shot at love - or at least, a prize you’ll love. Your team will play again in the next bracket. Everyone will play three games.

There will be a “Doubles Board” available during each game. If you throw a double takeout within the first hour of your game, you can move the doubles board to your sheet. Similarly, if you score a “three-ender” (you score three points on an end) you can also claim the Doubles Board. If your team has the Doubles Board after the first hour of play, then your team earns a pitcher of beer (or equivalently priced beverage) on us! We will also be implementing a special Valentine’s Mulligan for purchase by donation.

Event Schedule
1st Draw: 10:30AM
Lunch Break - Grab a meal upstairs at the Rock and Iron Grill
2nd Draw 1:00 PM
3rd Draw 3:00 PM
Buffet & Evening Social 5:30 PM

What to Bring

  • Clean indoor shoes: If you do not own curling shoes, bring a clean pair of indoor shoes. Check them over the night before and clean out rocks or dirt in the treads (giving them a scrub in the sink is even better). The ice is very sensitive and dust or lint can ruin the surface.
  • Stretchy pants and layers: Curling can put you into positions you didn’t know your body can go - we don’t want anyone wrecking their pants. You should be able to crouch, lunge, and reach forward unrestricted. Curling is also an active sport, you may be surprised how hot you get on the ice. Similar to shoes, try to make sure your clothing is not too linty or dirty either.
  • Money: Bring cash for Mulligans!
  • A good spirit: This is a community social event and fundraiser after all. We’re all here to have a good time for a good cause.
