Learning from the Couch: Our History with Lorne Calvert.
An examination of the context and story of the NDP government of the 1990s/2000. The Saskatchewan Party has often used a strategy of portraying the NDP as the party of austerity and cutbacks, frequently blaming them for the closure of rural schools and hospitals. Former premier Lorne Calvert will review the difficulties that the Romanow government was forced to contend with in the early years following the defeat of the Progressive Conservative government of Grant Devine in 1991, due to the dire fiscal situation that the province was left in. He will also give a recollection of the final years of the NDP government prior to the transition to Sask Party rule in 2007.
Question and answer to follow.
