Course Description: After an introduction to the mandala and neurographic art, there will be a warm-up activity. Following this, you will be guided in creating your neurographic mandala. A moment for sharing will complete the session.

What is a neurographic mandala? A mandala is a circular motif. The word mandala means center, circumference or “magic circle” and expresses wholeness. For thousands of years, the mandala has been used as an art form worldwide, especially to express the sacred. It is a powerful symbol and a tool for meditation, insight, healing, and even transformation.

In this workshop, we will augment the calming effect of the mandala with a mindfulness-based drawing technique in which one creates freeform, neurographic or “neuron-like” lines rounded at the intersections. Highly accessible to non-artists, this technique reduces stress and increases emotional well-being.

Instructor Bio: Jean Epp-Gauthier, B.Ed. Jean is a retired elementary and high school teacher. She has led mandala workshops with students, teachers, seniors, and cancer survivors.
