AS SASK. PARTY FAILS ON PUBLIC SAFETY, SCOTT MOE INSULTS FRONTLINE RCMP OFFICERS

REGINA -  Scott Moe has disrespected RCMP officers at a time when we need real action to get out of last place on public safety.

Moe told reporters in Prince Albert, “The public sector union, the (National Police Federation), is going to advocate on behalf of what they feel will, you know, essentially make for more officers and more union dues. And let’s be really callous about it.”

“The people of this province support the RCMP and the incredible job they do each and every day to keep our communities safe,” said Nicole Sarauer, Saskatchewan NDP candidate for Regina-Douglas Park. “They should be applauded, not insulted.

“Frontline officers have been failed by Scott Moe and the Sask. Party,” Sarauer added. “No new supports, broken promises, horrible working conditions. It’s time for change. It’s time for a government that supports the RCMP.”

Scott Moe’s own former Justice Minister and former Deputy Premier pointed out that during Scott Moe’s tenure as Premier crime had climbed in Saskatoon, noting that crime had risen by 27 per cent in recent years, with a 45 per cent increase in robberies.

n a video posted to X/Twitter, Wyant asked the question that so many people in Saskatchewan are asking about Scott Moe and the Sask. Party’s record on public safety “Where was the urgency over the last eight years?”

“Even Moe’s own people know he’s the one that has failed on public safety, not the RCMP,” Sarauer said. “I demand that Scott Moe apologize for his callous and senseless remarks.”

Moe’s comments came in response to a question about his bogus Marshals Service, which has wasted millions and not put a single new police officer on Saskatchewan streets. Carla Beck has committed to scrapping the Marshals and reinvesting that money into hiring 200 RCMP and local police service officers.
