BECK: Help is on the way.
Carla Beck speaks with Saskatchewan nurses, shares her party’s plan to fix health care
REGINA – Carla Beck joined over 500 Saskatchewan nurses at their annual convention today to share her party’s plan to get Saskatchewan’s health care out of last place, by working together with Saskatchewan’s nurses to staff up our healthcare system and lowering wait times. Despite confirming attendance, Scott Moe and the Sask. Party refused to show up.
“Help is on the way,” said Beck. “We will work together with our nurses to retain the healthcare staff we have, and to train more people to care for people here in this incredible province.”
“Under Scott Moe and the Sask Party, our province has dropped to dead last in healthcare compared to the rest of Canada. Health care workers are burnt out and people are waiting longer and driving further just to get seen,” said Beck. “I’m running because it’s time to get Saskatchewan out of last place. With our plan, we can.”
“Health care isn’t one size fits all. A Saskatchewan NDP government will bring back local voices to the decision-making table. We will staff up the system to give every person in this province access to a family doctor and a hospital that is open and ready to take care of you in an emergency.”
“The people of Saskatchewan and the people on the frontlines of our healthcare deserve not thing less.”
Beck laid out the Saskatchewan New Democrats plan to end Moe’s chaos in health care by investing $1.1 billion in new health care funding, including standing up a Nursing Task Force -- something the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses have been calling for for more than a year.
“It’s about time Saskatchewan nurses had a government that listens to them,” said Beck.
Beck also committed to end the culture of fear, disrespect, and division that Scott Moe and the Sask Party pushed onto nurses and frontline workers, which caused many nurses to leaving the province or the field altogether.
“We used to be the province that the rest of Canada looked to on health care. After all, Saskatchewan is the birthplace of public healthcare,” said Beck. “But now, our health care is crumbling all around us in every part of this province. This election, we can change that. On October 28th, the people of Saskatchewan can elect a Saskatchewan NDP government.”
