REALITY CHECK: SCOTT MOE AND THE SASK. PARTY FAILED BATTLEFORDS HEALTHCARE

Residents in the Battlefords deserve an apology from Scott Moe during his visit today for how his government created the health care crisis that so many are living through.

Moe should take the opportunity to apologize to residents like Amanda Singh – whose daughter repeatedly went to the emergency room but was unable to get the care she needed because there were no beds and no staff available.

Singh’s husband was unable to get an ambulance when he needed one because all the ambulances were transferring patients to other centres. Receiving treatment took him over eight hours.

Amanda’s story is only one example of the failures in healthcare under Scott Moe and the Sask. Party, failures which have framed this election.

Scott Moe’s healthcare record in the Battlefords is the closure of the ICU at the Battlefords Union Hospital for nearly 48 consecutive days in a span of just seven weeks, and 200 days of service disruptions over two hundred days over the past five years.

Change is possible. A Saskatchewan NDP government will get the province out of last place on healthcare. If elected, a Carla Beck government will:

  • Invest to hire more doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers.
  • Increase staffing to keep emergency rooms open across Saskatchewan.
  • Create more permanent full-time healthcare positions to ensure frontline workers can stay in their communities and phase out costly contract positions.
