Prince Albert Residents Can Vote For Change, Starting Tomorrow
PRINCE ALBERT – Ahead of advanced polls opening across the province tomorrow, Saskatchewan NDP candidates in Prince Albert said people finally have the opportunity to vote for change.
“People across Saskatchewan don’t have to settle for being in last place on so many things that matter — they can vote for real change.” said Nicole Rancourt, Saskatchewan NDP candidate for Prince Albert Northcote.
“Starting tomorrow, advanced polls open for people in Prince Albert to cast their vote. As a social worker, and speaking to people on the doors, I hear that one of the things that needs to change is how safe we feel on our streets. Safety is the foundation of a strong community — but the Sask. Party has let Prince Albert become one of the most violent cities in Canada.”
Carla Beck and the Saskatchewan NDP have a plan that’s tough on crime but also tough on the causes of crime.
“We will hire 200 more RCMP and local officers and help folks pay for security equipment, but we need to do more than that,” Rancourt said. “Tackling the root causes of crime is the only way to break the cycle, help people get back their lives, and make sure everyone in Prince Albert feels safe. We will do more for mental health support, addiction services, and building our community spaces, and make our communities whole again.”
Rancourt was joined by Carolyn Brost Strom, the Saskatchewan NDP Candidate for Prince Albert Carlton.
“One thing I hear on the doors the most is that people in Prince Albert want a government who will be focused on fixing health care. We can’t talk about building safer communities without also talking about the fact that our healthcare is on the brink of collapse.”
“Saskatchewan is where public healthcare started. We do not have to accept the state Scott Moe and the Sask. Party have let it get to. No one in Prince Albert should have to wait for months to get basic healthcare. We don’t have to accept it. We can vote to change it.
The Saskatchewan NDP has committed to $1.1 Billion in new healthcare spending, including measures to attract new healthcare workers, keep existing ones, and train them in Saskatchewan.
“This is the tightest election in Saskatchewan for almost 20 years,” Brost Strom said. “We can win. I encourage everyone to vote to make our communities the safe and compassionate places we know they can be.”
